Individual Therapy

"Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world.  All things break.  And all things can be mended.  Not with time, as they say, but with intention.  So go.  Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally.  The broken world waits for the light that is you."

- L.R. Knost

"Into each life some rain must fall."

- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

No one's life is perfect, not even those with the perfect Instagram posts showing perfect lives, relationships, friendships, & children. In everyone's lives there will be struggle, loss, painful emotions and situations where we need help.  Individual therapy can help to provide a supportive space to work through whatever it is that you are struggling with.

I offer support, encourage self understanding, and help provide tools to address current life challenges as well as long standing issues.  The therapeutic approaches I use are designed to meet your unique needs and complexities, and the goals you are seeking to achieve in therapy.

Using an integrative approach in therapy sessions, we’ll work to  improve positive thinking and outcomes.  The modalities used include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Solutions Focused, & Acceptance & Committment (ACT) therapies and mindfulness training.  I also have a background doing Sandplay therapy with children as well as running groups for both children and adults.

In addition I have done training in Mental Health Nutrition & Integrative Medicine.  Together we will take a holistic view into how your nutrition and health may be contributing to mental health or mood concerns.

I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles.

Online Therapy Sessions

"We are always in a perpetual state of being created & creating ourselves"

- Dan Siegel

In today's busy world there are so many obstacles to accessing the support we need.  Sometimes it's inconvenient or impossible to get to the office for therapy and just becomes another barrier to getting help.  When you are already overwhelmed or over- scheduled, online therapy could be the solution you've been looking for.  Therapy provided is the same as an in office session, but brought to you at the convenience and comfort of your home or office instead.  Research has shown that online therapy is as effective as in office therapy while providing access to so many more clients.  Video sessions are done on a confidential HIPPA  compliant platform.

Teletherapy sessions allow clients to access the same quality individual therapy and care without having to come to the office.  On-line therapy sessions allow us to work early mornings, during lunch, or in the evening around clients schedules. Contact me today and let me help you find the best in yourself.

Career & College Counseling

"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are"

- Carl Jung

I provide support for highschool and college students to help navigate the stress and anxiety that can come at this point of life.  Working together teens are able to learn more about themselves by exploring their strengths, interests & options in order to help guide them along the best path for them.  I  also help teens and young adults manage their emotional and mental health during this time which can be very stressful and anxiety ridden.

Therapy for Children & Teens

"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being"

- Dan Siegel

Children & adolescents face many unique challenges today.  Stressors such as increased academic pressure, high stakes testing at all ages, college admission requirements, trauma, social media influence, overscheduling & greatly increased rates of anxiety and depressive disorders can impose obstacles to emotional health and prevent them from developing important life skills.

Therapy provides a supportive and safe environment for children and teens to explore their unique challenges, learn healthy coping skills, and develop a healthy sense of self.

We will work together to develop coping strategies, mindfulness skills, social & emotional skills, relationship and conflict resolution skills, & anxiety/stress management techniques & tools.

In my work with  tweens/teens we will also focus on managing social media interactions, peer relationships, peer pressure, academic pressure & positive decision making.

Parenting in our world has also changed drastically in just the past generation.   We can work together to tackle the challenges of parenting throughout development from babies to young adults.

One in five teens and young adults live with a mental health condition, and three quarters develop one by age 24, according to the National Alliance on Mental Health.  I can help.

Maternal Mental Health

"Courage doesn't always roar.  Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

-Mary Anne Radmacher

Most women spend their entire pregnancies preparing for "what to expect" from their babies but receive very little information about what to expect in regard to the post partum period, or their Maternal Mental Health. The shift in focus happens immediately after birth and the mother's care is often an after thought as all attention is shifted toward the newborn baby.  While this is generally seen as a joyous time it is never simple and may also be accompanied by a tremendous amount of distress and difficulty.  Since we are told that this is meant be a time of pure bliss, any complicated feelings to the contrary are often met with guilt and shame by the mother and therefore hidden from even her closest supporters and loved ones, compounding the problem.

As many as 1 in 5 women experience some form of perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) including post partum depression, post partum anxiety, & post partum obsessive compulsive disorder.  Those numbers may even be much higher considering that most women hide or downplay their symptoms for fear of being judged as a "bad" mother.  Without support and treatment, perinatal mood disorders  can have a devastating impact on the women and families affected.

It is estimated that 20-25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth.  In addition to grief many of these women also experience post partum depression.

Having a premature child or having a child spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit can also contribute to maternal mental health issues.

Post partum mood disorders are very real and require professional treatment.

Struggling with maternal mental health issues does not make you a bad mother, or weak or ungrateful.  These issues are so much more common than most people realize and they are very treatable.  Let me help - call for an appointment today.
